Once there was a timid mouse.
He lived inside a mushroom house,
That stood at the end of the lane.
He was always quite shy.
Folks oft passed him by.
Very few good friends had he.
But one bright sunny day,
In the month of May,
There was a knock at the door.
He looked all around.
He stared at the ground.
He wondered what to do.
Bravely he went to open his door.
He cracked it a bit, and then some more.
And there stood a mouse with a cup.
"I've come to borrow some sugar," she said.
With a grin, and giggle, and a hat on her head,
She held her cup in outstretched arm.
He invited her in.
He went to a big bin.
Some sugar he did procure.
And to this day,
Other creatures say,
The mouse is timid no more.
